Sleeping in the vehicle is restricted in Spain and depends on where you stop. A tent needs a campsite or the landowner's word. A pitch runs about €17 a night.

Spain — the traffic code never mentions camping, so a stopped motorhome is just parked and one night is lawful anywhere parking is. What crosses the line is deploying it as a dwelling. The exception that catches people: the entire coastal public domain bans parking, camping and driving outright — not just the beach. Acampada is fined from €40 per m² per day.

No right to pitch
No right to roam. A tent on the coastal public domain is banned outright — that strip, not just the beach, is where most people try it. Inland it falls to each autonomous community and municipality, so there is no single national answer to give you.
🔥 When fire risk is forecast very high or extreme, fire is banned in ANY open space — INCLUDING rest areas and equipped campsite fireplaces (Ley 43/2003 de Montes art. 48.6). Fines start at €100 and run to six figures.
