A night on the road

Sleeping in a camper in 🇸🇰 Slovakia

Sleeping in the vehicle is restricted in Slovakia and depends on where you stop. A tent needs a campsite or the landowner's word. A pitch runs about €18 a night.

The same rules the planner warns with when it puts you to bed in Slovakia. Where a rule is what everyone does rather than what a statute says, this page says so.

In the vehicle

Restricted — it depends where

Slovakia — inside any national park, standing a motor vehicle away from a road or car park is itself banned, as is camping in every form. Fines to €3,319, €300 on the spot, and they may confiscate the gear.

In a tent

No right to pitch

It depends on the protection degree, and every national park is the strictest one — where camping, tenting, bivouacking and fire are all banned outside built-up areas. The High Tatras are the extreme case: a 73,800-hectare park with exactly ONE legal tent site, on wooden platforms, open only in summer and deep winter. Fines to €3,319, €300 on the spot, and they may confiscate the equipment.

The instrument: Zákon 543/2002 §14(1)(d) (3rd degree, which §19(3) applies to all national parks); TANAP visitor order 26/2023 §8

What a night costs

Per night, for two. A figure marked derived is computed from the country's price level, not read off a price list — the plan says the same.

Plan the drive and we place the nights for you: the free lawful spots first where you sleep in the vehicle, a pitch where you asked for one, each priced the same honest way.
