Sleeping in the vehicle is restricted in the Netherlands and depends on where you stop. A tent needs a campsite or the landowner's word. A pitch runs about €25 a night.

Netherlands — there is no national rule; each municipality's own bye-law decides, and they differ. Parking a camper is usually fine for up to 3 days, but SLEEPING in it on the road is banned outright in places like Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Texel. Fine €170. Use a camperplaats where you can.
In a tent
No right to pitch
No right to roam, and wild camping is banned by the local council's own bye-law (the APV) in thousands of municipalities — Natuurmonumenten puts it flatly: "écht wildkamperen is nergens in Nederland toegestaan". Staatsbosbeheer closed all 17 of its free paalkamperen spots in 2020, so guides that still mention them are out of date.
