copilot.travel is a free trip planner and drive co-pilot, run by copilot.travel (Heikki Kalliokoski). Every figure says where it came from; the plan is a suggestion and the choices on the road are yours.
Drive mode and navigation
Drive mode is a planning aid and a co-pilot. It is not a certified navigation device.
You stay responsible
The driver is responsible for driving, for reading the road signs and for obeying traffic law. Road signs, signals, the police and the law come before anything this app says or shows.
Where the information comes from
Routes, speed limits, closures, tolls, opening hours and warnings come from open data (© OpenStreetMap contributors) and from published sources. They can be wrong or out of date, and a road can be shut or changed since the data was made. Times, distances, fuel, tank level and costs are estimates, not promises.
Don't use the phone while driving
Set the route before you go, or stop somewhere safe, or let a passenger use the phone.
Not for emergencies
In an emergency call 112. The app cannot call for help and is not made for emergency use.
Your position
Your position stays on your phone. The exceptions are the things you ask for. When you start guidance, when the route is calculated again, or when you ask for something nearby (the Find button, or a question like "nearest zoo"), the one point where you are is sent to our own server so it can answer. We do not store that point and do not write it to a log.
To answer a "nearby" question we use our own map data first. If that has nothing there, a public open map-data service is asked about the area (the point blurred to about a kilometre, or the next stretch of road ahead, with no name or account attached), and in Germany a fuel-price service is asked about the stations around that blurred point. Those services have their own rules; we cannot speak for them.
The speed-limit sign sends the route line only, to our own server (after a re-route that line begins where the car was), never your position as you drive. Recording a drive stays on your phone and leaves it only as a file you share yourself. If you are a member and turned on notifications, we receive the name of the next stop and when you expect to arrive, so a reminder can be sent; no position. If you speak a question, your phone's own speech service may process what you say.
The rest is in What we store (/privacy).
Liability
The service is provided as it is. We do not promise that it is free of errors or always available. We are liable only as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
