Sleeping in a camper in 🇩🇰 Denmark
Sleeping in the vehicle is restricted in Denmark and depends on where you stop. A tent needs a campsite or the landowner's word. A pitch runs about €30 a night.

Restricted — it depends where
Denmark — a camper is treated as any motor vehicle: no driving or parking on beaches, in forest or nature areas unless it is actively allowed. On private roads parking is fine unless forbidden, but putting out an awning, table or roof tent "so as to permit overnighting" needs the landowner's permission.
In a tent
No right to pitch
No general right to roam for camping — Denmark replaces it with something better defined: free pitching in 275 state forests under the 1-2-3 rule, one night, two tents, three people each. The tent must stand under trees and out of SIGHT of paths, roads and buildings — the test is line of sight, not a distance. Sleeping without a tent, in a bivvy or hammock, is freer.
🔥 Open fire only at the built bålpladser. Elsewhere an enclosed stove is fine — until a local burning ban, which covers stoves too. Smoking is banned on heath and in plantations 1 March – 31 October.

Free and nearly free places to stay

Denmark has no right to roam and replaces it with something better organised: about 500 free primitive overnight sites plus 275 state forests open to free pitching. The forest rule is one night, two tents, three people each, under trees and out of sight. Shelters split into first-come (free, no booking) and bookable up to three months ahead; two nights maximum.
