Sleeping in a camper in 🇵🇹 Portugal
Sleeping in the vehicle is restricted in Portugal and depends on where you stop. A tent needs a campsite or the landowner's word. A pitch runs about €15 a night.

Portugal — since 2021 the rule is explicit: outside protected areas you may overnight up to 48 hours in the same municipality, and "overnighting" means occupants aboard between 22:00 and 07:00. Inside Natura 2000 sites, protected areas and coastal-plan zones it is banned unless expressly authorised. Fines €60–300, doubled to €120–600 in those areas.
In a tent
No right to pitch
No right to roam, and camping on any road or public space is an offence in its own right (€30–150). Motorhomes get a clearer deal than tents: 48 hours in one municipality outside protected areas.
🔥 Portugal certainly runs a summer fire regime, but its current terms could not be retrieved from an official source — so we state none. Assume a ban and check locally.
