A night on the road

Sleeping in a camper in 🇱🇹 Lithuania

Sleeping in the vehicle is restricted in Lithuania and depends on where you stop. A tent needs a campsite or the landowner's word. A pitch runs about €17 a night.

The same rules the planner warns with when it puts you to bed in Lithuania. Where a rule is what everyone does rather than what a statute says, this page says so.

In the vehicle

Restricted — it depends where

Lithuania — in forest you may drive on roads only and park only in designated areas or at the road edge, never on moss, lichen or berry ground. Overnight stays are confined to recognised recreation sites.

In a tent

No right to pitch

Lithuania's everyman's-rights reputation is only half true. You may walk and forage freely in forest of ANY ownership — but on where you may stay the rules are explicit: only at rest areas, recreation spots, campsites and campgrounds. Wild camping simply sits outside the permission.

🔥 Fires only at purpose-built, marked fire sites, watched continuously and doused until they stop smouldering. No seasonal ban appears in the rules.

What a night costs

Per night, for two. A figure marked derived is computed from the country's price level, not read off a price list — the plan says the same.

Plan the drive and we place the nights for you: the free lawful spots first where you sleep in the vehicle, a pitch where you asked for one, each priced the same honest way.
