How a visitor pays

Tolled motorways are the AP-roads with barriers: take a ticket, pay by card or cash at the exit, or with a Via-T badge. Many have become free since 2021, including the AP-7 through Catalonia and Valencia and the AP-2, AP-4 and AP-1; what remains is mostly AP-9 in Galicia, AP-6 and AP-61/51 north of Madrid, AP-66, AP-68 and AP-71. The A-roads are free. No vignette.

Pay with a tag

A Via-T badge — Bip&Drive, Via-T from a Spanish bank, or a French Bip&Go or Ulys, the Portuguese Via Verde Europa or an Italian Telepass Europeo — is read in the lanes marked Via-T / T on every AP-road and on the Portuguese and French ones as well.
