How a visitor pays
One product: the annual vignette, 40 CHF, as a sticker or an e-vignette on the number plate bought online at via.admin.ch; it covers the calendar year plus a month either side. Needed on every motorway and expressway; a missing one costs 200 CHF plus the vignette. The Great St Bernard tunnel is charged separately. Vehicles over 3.5 t pay the distance-based heavy vehicle charge instead.

Covered by the vignette, but queues in summer are the real cost. No toll of its own for any vehicle: the A2 is a vignette-liable national road, the Constitution (BV Art. 82(3)) makes road use free of charge unless the Federal Assembly authorises an exception, and on this network the only exception is the flat CHF 40 vignette (NSAG). Nothing extra for a caravan or a motorhome; over 3.5 t it is the network-wide heavy-vehicle charge, which we do not hold (CARAVANCLASS, 2026-10-13).
On a Sunday
shops shut. Sunday trading is restricted almost everywhere — station and petrol-station shops are the reliable exceptions.
