Sleeping in your vehicle or a tent in Denmark

• 🚐 In the vehicle: Allowed with real exceptions — depends on the place. Denmark — a camper is treated as any motor vehicle: no driving or parking on beaches, in forest or nature areas unless it is actively allowed. On private roads parking is fine unless forbidden, but putting out an awning, table or roof tent "so as to permit overnighting" needs the landowner's permission.
• ⛺ A tent outside a campsite: No general right to roam for camping — Denmark replaces it with something better defined: free pitching in 275 state forests under the 1-2-3 rule, one night, two tents, three people each. The tent must stand under trees and out of SIGHT of paths, roads and buildings — the test is line of sight, not a distance. Sleeping without a tent, in a bivvy or hammock, is freer.
