Sleeping in your vehicle or a tent in Sweden
- 🚐 In the vehicle: Generally accepted. Sweden — at a rest area, as a rule 24 hours on weekdays; over a weekend you may stay until the next working day unless a sign says otherwise. Parking in terrain — forest, beach, meadow — is forbidden outright, and the landowner cannot waive it. Allemansrätten covers tents, not the vehicle.

Naturvårdsverket's own guidance is "one or two nights" in one spot, and two or three tents is within the right — a larger group needs the landowner's consent. Avoid cultivated land and pasture. On distance they are explicit that there is NO rule: the privacy zone depends on terrain and fences, and near a house it may be only a few metres. (Allemansrätten (mentioned in the constitution, no single statute); Terrängkörningslag 1975:1313 bars driving in terrain)
